Demonstration Team (The Orcas)
The demonstration team participates in up to six local performances throughout the school year; including the Halloween party at Bellingham Bay Gymnastics and a WWU basketball game. At these performances the kids demonstrate different gymnastics skills (handstands, cartwheels, backwalkovers etc.), dancing, and small gymnastics stunts.
The Bellingham Bay Gymnastics Demonstration team’s goal is to encourage self-esteem, self-confidence, and build on those principles through gymnastics and team building. Our purpose is to build on the kids’ concept of what it means to be a team player, while also developing leadership. We hope the kids learn to contribute their abilities, respect each others differences, acknowledge each others strengths and weaknesses, and support each other. We hope to see the kids take these ideas and then attribute them to their everyday life.
To receive an invitation for the demonstration team, instructors are looking for kids who are willing to go the extra mile, and are motivated. We are looking for kids who take correction and apply it, practice without being asked, and come to gym everyday ready to learn and listen. In shorter terms, awesome attitudes, determination, and gymnastics skills!
